Wildlife Watching in the Upper Tagus: Mazarete

Discover the magnificent herbivores that live in the Alto Tajo Geopark in Mazarete (Guadalajara). During this interpretive route, you can observe tauros and mountain horses in their natural habitat and learn about the important role they play in the ecosystem.

Itinerary:

You will travel through spectacular scenery and learn about the Rewilding Spain renaturalization project and the role these animals play in restoring the valuable ecosystem in the Upper Tagus and in fighting fires.

Connect with nature and discover firsthand the regenerative capacity of these systems, in perfect harmony with local communities, in the heart of the Geopark.

What to bring

Wear comfortable clothing and footwear for walking in the countryside and check the weather forecast. Don’t forget to bring a cap/hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses all year round.

We recommend bringing water and a light snack for the tour, as there are no refreshment areas or shops in the area.

 

Conditions

If you choose to bring your pet, it must be kept on a leash at all times.

This is an area with poor cell phone coverage, so please keep this in mind and plan ahead to arrive at the starting point, as access is not permitted once the activity has begun.

In case of adverse weather conditions or if the condition of the animals requires it, the organizer may reschedule the visit. This is rare, but if it does happen, we will check with you to see if you want to reschedule, exchange the visit for another activity, or receive a refund. For all other cases, the general conditions on the website apply.

* For private groups, the first rescheduling can be done at no cost (subject to availability). Group cancellations must be made at least one week in advance if the visit is scheduled for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and are subject to a 20% penalty. If in doubt, please consult us.
